Profile: Hello! I'm in my fourth and last year here at RIT's BS/MS Environmental, Health, and Safety Management program. I'm originally from Virginia Beach but have been living in Rochester for the past four years. I've done a lot work on environmental management systems. I worked on developing a system for the Rochester City School District and am now working through a DEC grant to develop EMSs for four local small businesses.
My thesis topic will be on the impact the new EU regulations: WEEE and RoHS will be having on small businesses in the US--whether they are spurring innovation.

Hitting the Green Wall: Why Corporate Programs Get Stalled
This is one of the early writings that urged environmental managers in industry to turn their “environmentalese” jargon into the language of business, ie. making the business case for the environment. The article argues that unless environmental managers learned and became successful in doing this, environmental [...]

Hello Bakhtiyar Ibrayev and Fabiana Kotoriy. The symposium is coming up and I was wondering what you thought about our topic. John posted an example of a label we could use. What do you think of it? Have you been able to find other examples or resources that would help us [...]

Braden Allenby, worked at AT&T at the time, is kind of the “father” of industrial ecology. He and T.E. Graedel wrote the first textbook on the topic. Over time though, Allenby’s ideas of what an environmental manager should do evolved into a concept that moved beyond management systems or pollution prevention technologies and [...]

Workshop Presentation
At last year’s symposium, I moderated a workshop where I tried to facilitate discussion on what we believed were the underlying values of the environmental management profession. I had originally planned to use the principles of industrial ecology as a vehicle for getting to those values. I created the attached powerpoint to [...]
