Papers on Resilience in Industrial Ecology

Tom Seager, who will moderate this discussion at the May Symposium, provided three papers relating to reconciling differences in engineering resilience and ecosystem resilience. One of them is posted below or can be accessed directly at (http://www.environmentalmanager.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/holling-eng-vs-eco-resilience.pdf). This would be a good place to start. Unfortunately, I cannot find the remaining two, so I suggest asking Tom about them.
I think this is an essential topic for anyone considering industrial ecology as an approach to design.

Thank you for posting the paper. I think it made very good conclusions about the need for environmental management (industrial ecologists) at all levels of planning to consider the impact of functional diversity in the environment, that could be easily over looked when trying to make a profit.
